Painted, not tainted.

Below is a poetry written in conjunction with the Syawal 2006 celebration at the Malaysian Hall in Sydney, Australia. I helped a good friend, Nadirah Othman in the production of the Hari Raya video for the event; whereby the poetry work below was used as the script.

--------------------------------------------------

There are those days,
Along the journey of our time away from home,
away from our loved ones,
That we can’t help but stop awhile,
Pondering and looking back at those times back home,
with only fresh memories in mind,
and a family photograph in one hand.

There are those many unnoticed days,
Along the journey of our time away from home,
That we encounter beautiful souls,
of different worlds, of different colours,
appearing new and somewhat strangers to us,
Adding colours to our journey
To a point that we realize,
Another beautiful photograph
has just been painted.

Along the journey of our time away from home,
Today; Hari Raya
shall be one of those days,
When we can’t help but stop awhile,
Looking back at great times back home,
with fresh memories in mind,
and a beautiful family photograph in hand.
The other hand?
Holds a newly painted photograph,
of souls we’ve encountered here so far,
also known as our family.

SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI, MAAF ZAHIR BATIN
to family & friends back home,
and not forgetting the ones here. :-)
